April 2 – International Children’s Book Day
International Children’s Book Day is celebrated on April 2, the birthday of H.C. Andersen. It was founded in 1967 by the non-profit organization International Council for Literature for Children and Youth (IBBY). On this day, IBBY awards the H.C. Andersen Prize every two years to a writer – author of books for children and an illustrator of children’s books. The initiative to create the International Children’s Book Day belongs to the famous German writer Jelle Lepmann.
